Cycle to Work Scheme in Ireland, how you get your bike through your employer

You choose your bike with us, your employer approves the request, then the voucher arrives by email. The only delay is usually the payment step between approval and voucher.

Phone: 085 762 6472 Dublin 8

Not free, you repay from salary Approval is not the voucher We need order number and voucher code

Before we can release a bike

We can only hand over your bike when you have the voucher details, not just the approval email.

  • Order number
  • Voucher code

If you only have the approval email, you are close, but not finished.

Most common mix up

Hubex may email you to say approved. That is a good sign. It is not the voucher. Please wait for the voucher email with your order number and voucher code.

What the scheme is

Your employer pays for the bike, and you repay them from your salary over time. Because it comes from salary before tax, many people pay less overall.

Savings depend on your tax band and your pay setup.

What happens in real life

The slow part is usually between approval and voucher. The voucher is issued after your employer pays the provider invoice.

If you want, call us and we will tell you what step you are on.

1

Choose your bike with Pedro Pedals

Pick your bike and any safety gear. We confirm the total so you apply for the right amount.

2

Apply through your employer

Your employer uses their provider portal. In many cases this is Hubex. They approve or decline.

3

You get an email from Hubex with the decision

If it says approved, that is progress. You still need to wait for the voucher email.

4

Your employer pays the provider invoice

After approval, the provider invoices the employer. When that invoice is paid, the voucher can be issued.

5

Hubex sends the voucher by email

The voucher contains your order number and voucher code. Save them. Print if you prefer.

6

Bring the voucher details to Pedro Pedals

We redeem the voucher using the code and order number, then we release your bike.

Do not send us the approval email
  • The approval email does not include what we need to redeem.
  • We cannot release a bike until you have the order number and voucher code.
  • Wait for the voucher email, then call us if you want to collect the same day.

What you can get on the scheme

Most providers follow the same caps. If you are unsure, call and we will confirm what fits your plan.

Type Typical scheme limit Examples
Standard bike Up to €1,250 Road, hybrid, mountain, commuter
E bike Up to €1,500 Electric commuter, electric hybrid
Cargo and e cargo Up to €3,000 Family cargo, business delivery cargo

Reminder: you can usually use the scheme once every four years, based on the tax year of the last bike.

FAQ

Is the Cycle to Work scheme a free bike?
No. Your employer pays first, then you repay from salary over time. The benefit is that it is usually cheaper overall because of how it is paid.
I got approved. Can I collect my bike today?
Approval is a good sign, but it is not the voucher. You can collect when you have the order number and voucher code from the voucher email.
Who emails me, Pedro Pedals or Hubex?
The provider emails you. If your employer uses Hubex, you will get the approval email and later the voucher email from Hubex.
What details do you need to release the bike?
We need two things: the order number and the voucher code. Without those, we cannot redeem the voucher and we cannot release the bike.
How long does it take after approval?
It depends on how fast the employer pays the provider invoice. Some employers pay quickly, others take longer. If you want, call us and we will guide you.
